Medical Review Policy

Our Medical Review Standards

Medical review is a core part of Gentle Glow’s commitment to publishing accurate, responsible, science-backed skincare information.

Our skincare content is progressively reviewed by qualified healthcare professionals, including dermatologists and pharmacists, who evaluate relevant scientific and health-related claims for accuracy, context, and consistency with current evidence.

Medical review is designed to strengthen the reliability of our content while preserving a clear distinction between editorial authorship and independent clinical review.

Who Reviews Our Content

Gentle Glow works with qualified healthcare professionals whose training and experience are relevant to the skincare topics they review.

Our medical review team currently includes professionals with backgrounds in dermatology and pharmacy, allowing articles to be reviewed from both clinical and ingredient-focused perspectives where appropriate.

Each reviewer has a dedicated professional profile outlining their qualifications, experience, areas of expertise, and role at Gentle Glow. Their name and credentials are also displayed on the articles they review so readers can clearly see who has evaluated the content.

What Our Medical Reviewers Assess

Medical reviewers evaluate the parts of an article that involve scientific, clinical, or health-related information. Depending on the topic, this may include:

  • skincare ingredient functions and mechanisms
  • acne, sebum, pores, and skin barrier concepts
  • treatment-related information and safety considerations
  • claims about benefits, risks, irritation, or tolerability
  • interpretation of scientific studies and clinical evidence
  • whether recommendations are appropriately supported and clearly qualified

Reviewers may also recommend rewording, additional context, stronger references, or removal of claims when the available evidence does not support the original wording.

Medical review does not mean that every skincare outcome will apply equally to every reader. Skin responses can vary according to factors such as formulation, individual tolerance, routine, and underlying skin concerns.

How Our Medical Review Process Works

Medical review takes place as part of Gentle Glow’s broader editorial process. Once an article has been researched, written, and editorially reviewed, it is shared with a qualified healthcare professional for an independent assessment of relevant scientific and health-related claims.

The reviewer may provide comments, corrections, clarifications, or requests for additional evidence. These recommendations are then incorporated into the article where appropriate before publication, or during a later update if the article is already live.

The final published article reflects both Gentle Glow’s editorial standards and the reviewer’s medical feedback, while keeping authorship and medical review as clearly separate roles.

How We Identify Medically Reviewed Content

Articles that have completed Gentle Glow’s medical review process clearly identify the medical reviewer by name and professional credentials.

Where available, the reviewer’s name links to a dedicated professional profile where readers can learn more about their qualifications, experience, areas of expertise, and role at Gentle Glow.

Reviewed articles may also display the medical review date or most recent review information, helping readers understand when the content was last evaluated for scientific and clinical accuracy.

We only describe an article as medically reviewed once the review process has been completed.

Ongoing Review and Re-Review

Medical review is not necessarily a one-time process. Gentle Glow may return an article for additional medical review when meaningful new research, clinical guidance, safety information, or substantial editorial updates affect the scientific content of the piece.

Articles may also be re-reviewed when important claims are added, existing recommendations change, or new evidence alters how a skincare ingredient, treatment, or mechanism should be explained.

Minor edits that do not change the scientific or health-related meaning of an article may not require a new medical review. When a substantive re-review takes place, we may update the medical review information shown on the article.

Medical Review Independence

Gentle Glow’s medical reviewers provide their assessment based on professional judgment, relevant evidence, and the scientific or clinical information presented in the article.

Their review is conducted independently of affiliate relationships, gifted products, sponsorships, advertising agreements, or other commercial partnerships. Commercial considerations do not determine whether a reviewer recommends changing, qualifying, or removing a scientific claim.

Medical reviewers are encouraged to raise concerns whenever they believe information could be misleading, insufficiently supported, outdated, or in need of additional context, even when this requires substantial changes to an article before publication.

What Medical Review Does — and Does Not — Mean

Medical review helps Gentle Glow verify that relevant skincare and health-related information is scientifically accurate, appropriately supported, and presented with suitable context at the time of review.

It does not mean that an article provides a diagnosis, treatment plan, or individualized medical advice. Skincare needs and responses can vary considerably from person to person, and some concerns require assessment by a qualified healthcare professional.

Gentle Glow’s medically reviewed content is intended to support informed skincare decisions and better understanding of skin health, not replace professional medical care when it is needed.

Questions, Corrections and Feedback

We welcome questions and credible feedback about the medical or scientific information published on Gentle Glow.

If you believe a medically reviewed article contains outdated information, an unsupported claim, or a scientific or clinical error, please contact us through our Contact page. Relevant concerns will be reviewed by our editorial team and, where appropriate, referred to a qualified medical reviewer.

If a correction or substantive update is needed, we will revise the article in line with our Editorial Policy and medical review standards.
